'Earlier this month, a photo of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 L-Series smartphone was leaked online that hinted at some new apps.

Now, RIM has registered several domains that likely reveal more about the lineup of apps including Flick, Flow, Hub, Keyboard, Newsstand, Peek, PlayOn, Remember, Story Maker, Time Shift, BBM Video, BBM Voice, and Voice Control.

The leaked photo of the device that surfaced on September 3, showed several apps including Facebook, Pictures, Remember, Maps and Story Maker. While the photo didn’t offer many details, RIM’s latest round of domain registrations may provide more clues.

On September 14, Research In Motion Limited, bought up dozens of names through the brand protection company MarkMonitor.

The list of domains includes names like BlackBerryFlick.com (Whois), BlackBerryPeek.com (Whois), BlackBerryPlayOn.com (Whois), BlackBerryRemember.com (Whois), BBMVideo.com (Whois), BlackBerryStoryMaker.com (Whois), BlackBerryTimeShift.com (Whois), and BlackBerryVoiceControl.com (Whois).

The majority of the names were registered publicly to RIM, like BlackBerryPeek.com.'

"PlayOn is for watching media stored on BlackBerry on TVs/other devices. Like Apple's AirPlay feature. You'll notice a PlayOn button in the newer screenshots of Picture Viewer for BB10. Feature in the demo video."

Storymaker is what RIM is calling their Video Editor app (technology they acquired through their Jaycut acquisition).

Good to know what PlayOn, and Storymaker are,
I was really hoping Storymaker was going to be something unique like a story board app for making kids stories, or marketing pitches or things like that.
Apple has their garage band app, would be fun to get a unique app with BB10 that is quirky yet can be useful for kids and adults alike

Playon and story maker sound awesome. Hope it's as awesome as iMovie! I'm really looking forward to all the crazy TAT stuff when BB10 comes out :)

Hypothetically, if somebody owns one of the domains they want, can they demand a higher price from RIM? Or RIM can just take it over?

I think it's like real estate. RIM would have to pay the asking price.

Depends on the domianname, for the most part the person can demand a fee,
But if the domainname is a trademarked name there are ways of getting the domain name still costing money, but preventing someone from buying a domain for the purpose of extortion
